Brian Moe,

Based in Long Beach, California

My name is Brian Moe and I am a film composer currently living in the Los Angeles area.  I have several years of experience composing for the film industry, as well as several more composing in other genres of composition, all of which synchronize music with movement, action, and drama.

I graduated from the State University of New York at Onondaga Community College with an associated degree in Music with a concentration in Piano/ Composition. Since then, I have continued to compose regularly giving myself new challenges. I have composed 2 full-length musicals that are currently undergoing revisions for production.  While receiving my Masters in Fine Arts in dance from CSU Long Beach, I studied film scoring with Perry LeMarca, and composition with Robin Cox.

Shortly after graduation, I scored my first feature for Blue Rocket Productions, as well as two short films for the company. This allowed me to join the Society of Composers and Lyricists as a gold member, as well as BMI.  I also started my own dance company, INKED Dance, to which I have scored all the pieces that we have performed.  We have performed 3 full-length productions since the company’s inception 3 years ago.  In this time I also served as an arranger for Mark Toresso’s original musical “ The Emperor’s New Musical.”
I have scored a feature film for Blue Rocket Films entitled Seat of Justice, you can find it here on IMDB  As well as the short The Five, found here in IMDB. I have scored copious amounts of music for dance as well as several youtube shorts.

In the ever-changing market of media music, versatility and originality are the key components to marrying music to a film. I feel that both of these qualities manifest themselves in all aspects of my work to create something truly original and tailored to the picture.  I come from such a versatile background of dance, theater, psychology, and piano, that I am able to better understand the body language and unspoken dialogues of characters in order to allow the music to compliment and help drive the drama of the film.

I am self-motivated, ambitious, driven, and respond well to criticism.

I began my dance training at an early age specializing in Royal Academy of Dance style of Ballet.  He received his BFA in Dance from SUNY Fredonia in 2009 (the first person to graduate with that degree), and he received his MFA from CSU Long Beach in 2012.  He has choreographed 10 musicals for the Theater Department at CSULB including: RENT, SideShow, Spring Awakening, NINE, and Merrily We Roll Along.  He formed his dance company INKED Dance in 2011 and has since produced 3 complete evening length works.  He has created work for Santa Monica college, where he was a former adjunct.  In 2016 he became a full time faculty member at Los Angeles Pierce College where he has created many dances on the students, and has choreographed Hairspray  and In The Heights for the Theater Department. My style of dance is a combination of the lines and control of ballet with the use of momentum and athleticism of current contemporary trends.
